Brook Manor is a Grade2* Listed Building in the Dartmoor National Park. Our brief was to develop planning, building regulations and constuction drawings for a kitchen/dining room extension with a three strorey stair tower, from sketch designs prepared f by the clients' designer. Clients requested the of sustainable materials wherever possible and this included the use of lime based products, sheeps wool insulation and reclaimed stone.
Preparation of construction information included the challenging task of providing production drawings for each component of a 36 tread granite spiral staircase around which the stair tower was built together with granite window and parapet details. Each tread was hand made by masons on site and cut from blocks of reclaimed Dartmoor granite from docks in Plymouth. The use of CAD to produce accurate details of the stair tread geometry and other components was essential to the success of this project.
